You can see my horrible Youtube video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx9nSr…

But, here's the downlow:

1)  Affordable:  I bought mine second hand off Marktplaats.nl for 350 euros (about 400 US dollars) and I like it a whole lot more than the Cintiq12 I paid full price for (1,000.00 US).

2.) Real Estate:  It has a HUGE screen and I like that a lot!

3.) Light Weight:  it does NOT weigh a ton. It does not take two people to move it and install it on a desk.  It's a lightweight 19" screen and easily floats on the monitor arm I've installed it on. The plastic does feel cheap, but I have no plans on dropping it on the floor or throwing it around.  It should be fine.

4.) Colors are bright at clear.  All RGB colors look really good except for yellows. I find gold/maize/mustard/creams/lemon and all yellows difficult to keep accurate.  I transfer the image to my other screen often to double check colors.  (On the cintiq 12 I had to check for dullness over all. It was not bright and more soothing on the eyes after several hours)

4.b)  Sometimes it's TOO bright and I get some eye strain from the light.

5.) Pen is okay. Not fantastic, but okay.  I don't like the little tip squiggles that come from it being springy.  This could be from the previous owner breaking the pen, or it could be a design flaw. It does require me cleaning up inks more.  With paint it is not a problem, but getting perfect ink lines.... meh.  Watch the video to see what I'm talking about.  99% of the time it's perfect. The 1% I can forgive.

6.) Pen thin-ness. It's shaped like a normal pencil.  I don't like that, so I've rigged up a rubbery knuckle pad for it.  I do like a thicker stylus like what Wacom uses.

7.) Scratch Resistant:  so far, not a single scratch.  The coating on the glass is very durable.  Not sure if it's even really glass at all.

8.) Foot.  Because I bought it second hand, the foot was missing. I have no comment on it and can't review it.  I've installed the Bosto Kingtee on an Ergotron Neo-flex and love it.

I recommend this for anyone who works farther away from their face.  If you lean on the glass and use your elbow a lot to hold your weight, you might not like this tablet.  I love it because I keep it far from my face and approach it much like I am working on a regular canvas.

I just got a new Bosto Kingtee... well, that's not entirely true. I found it second-hand on Marktplaats.nl at a very deep discount.

I had been aiming for a used Cintiq 21, but all the ones I found were roughly 1,000 for a broken stand or a scratched up surface. The Bosto on the other hand was in like new condition for about 400.00 US dollars.  It had no stand, but that was okay. I ordered a used ergotron monitor arm off eBay for it for about 45.00 US dollars.

So far I like it.  It has taken some getting used to. The colors are a little off, but certainly brighter than my old Cintiq 12w.  It's easier to adjust them through the graphics card and I've got them pretty close.  Out of the box it doesn't show orange colors well, or gold tones.  Once adjusted, the golds do a lot better.

The pen is skinny and springy. Takes several hours to get used to that.  It's solid enough though and doesn't feel like a cheap plastic stylus.  I think investing in a rubber grip for it will be in my future.  I've grown to love a thicker pen.

The screen is a soft, matte plasticy feeling thing, and cold. It isn't warm at all like many other screens.  So far not a single scratch, even after pressing down really hard to see if it would scratch at all.  After reading a HUGE number of complaints about scratches on the other brand, I'm glad to have something I don't have to worry much about.

It is a nice feeling not having to protect this baby with my life.  If something happens, I wont cry too much.  I paid less than 500.00 for it.  I know I can always order a new one cheap.  I'm going to give it several more days before doing a proper review.  I can say so far that it's a winner and will do the job it's meant for....just takes getting used to it's quirks and limitations.

I've started playing Halo 2, simply because I never get time on the Xbox and when I do, the young men of the house call me a N00b.

Well... I am a N00b.  A giant one.  I've never really been interested in video games before.  This year I started trying to play some Halo 4 and I could barely master walking around and shooting at the same time.  Aiming while moving is impossible!!!!

So now I'm reading the books.  They aren't difficult to read and much of the military lingo is the same as when I was in the army myself.  Being a PSYOPs girl in an Airborne unit, it's kinda refreshing to think in a military manner again.

I'm in book 3 (about to finish) and start one of the big coffee table pictures books on the Halo Universe.  Things are starting to make more since now.....Now if I can just finish Halo 2 on something other than "easy" and start playing Halo 4 again!

This year I participated in the 24 Hour Comics Day and while I didn't made it to 24 pages, I DID make it to 20!

Which means that you guys get 24 NEW pages of American Gothic Daily (Part II), which has been running around in my head for a few years now.  I'm uploading them as fast as I can!

The last month has been very busy.  I've started doing volunteer work with a graphic design company to improve my Dutch language skills.

It's also pushed my Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator skills heavily.  I've started taking some online classes (nothing with a certification though) to learn more with webdesign and computer graphics.

While it's not in my original business sector, it's really interesting work related to what I did over 15 years ago in the military.  When I was active duty, I worked in a print shop doing 4 color ink printing and moved into the graphics department.  What I learned 15 years ago is so old fashioned compared to what I do today, but many of the ideas are still the same.

What does that mean for AGD?  Well.. AGD is slowly getting worked on when I have spare time.  Most of my time is being spent reading and taking online classes so I can master what I do at my volunteer work.  It all pushes my artwork forward in new ways, so it's possible that a lot of new ideas will be coming this year.
